Sometimes I look at my 8 and 7-year-old daughters with envy. They have such a nice life…really, they live like millionaires! They have a full-time chauffeur to drive them around. They have passive income (from parents!) and don’t have to worry about working. Their problems are so benign compared to an adult. Their life is simple and fun!
Too bad they do not understand how good they have it. One day I wished I could go back to their age with the knowledge I have now, so I could truly appreciate that time of my life. After some time though, it dawned on me what a terrible idea that could be. Imagine knowing what lies ahead and that someday these few years of your life, which are the most wonderful, simple, and fun, will be gone forever.
Sometimes, lack of knowledge (not ignorance), is bliss.
We all dream of winning the lottery, or going back in time and trying to do certain things differently. Oh, if I could win that $100,000,000 jackpot! Oh, if I could go back and do this instead of that!
Unfortunately, we all have to obey the laws of physics. We cannot modify the future nor the past (believe me, I’ve tried!). We can only modify the present. Dwelling on the past or the future is a distraction.
The only way to change yourself for the better is to change your daily habits and routine. And it happens one day at a time. If we can do the best we can in one day, and then the next, and the following day…You see were this leads!
So, my wish for all of you is that you modify your daily routine and habits so that you become the best person you can be, both physically and mentally.
