Earlobe repair surgery can restore stretched or split earlobes to their natural appearance. Dr. Jazayeri performs this simple procedure on men or women in the Orange County area who have earlobe deformities due to the following:
- Wearing heavy earrings that over time have caused drooping earlobes or a wide earring hole
- Stretched earlobes caused by purposely stretching the earlobe with gauges
- Trauma that caused the earring hole to split the earlobe either partially or completely
Virtually anyone with stretched or torn earlobes is a candidate for this procedure. Improvement can be made to either one or both of the earlobes, and patients young and old experience excellent results.
Orange County Earlobe Repair
Dr. Jazayeri performs earlobe repair surgery in his office, and the procedure typically takes less than 30 minutes. After applying a numbing solution, the tissues are repaired, and very fine sutures are used if the earlobe was torn completely. When the earlobes are severely stretched, often as a result of gauged earrings, Dr. Jazayeri performs a wedge resection wherein he removes the stretched part of the earlobe and reconstructs it.
Recovery and Results
Results can be seen in as little as two weeks. The patient can re-pierce the earlobe after about six to eight weeks once the area is fully healed. There is a small risk that the earlobes will become stretched or torn again, but in most cases, this occurs when the patient continues to wear heavy earrings or insert gauges. The earlobes can be repaired again in Dr. Jazayeri’s office if this happens.
