Liposuction Week by Week

Liposuction is still as popular as ever – though it has some high-tech competition these days. However, liposuction has remained a staple for good reason. Liposuction offers an alternative for individuals looking to contour trouble areas such as the midsection or thighs which often simply fail to respond to even the rigorous exercise and diet plan.

For those interested in getting liposuction, it is important to have as much information as possible. Knowing what to expect after the surgery will help individuals have realistic expectations regarding the results and healing process as well as being more prepared for following after-care instructions.

Weeks 1-2

The initial weeks following a liposuction procedure will be the most challenging. It is important to continually monitor the treated area for infection and closely follow your surgeon’s post-procedure care instructions for the best results. It is common to experience some pain and soreness after the procedure, though prescribed medication can be taken if the discomfort becomes too much. Additionally, your ability to move around and complete daily tasks will be limited. It will also be necessary to wear a bandage or compression garment to aid with the swelling.

During this recovery period, it is important to keep in mind that your body is healing and final results will take time to fully appear. Patience and rest are key.

Weeks 2-4

In Weeks 2-4, swelling will reduce and any pain or discomfort is likely to lessen. The incisions made during the procedure should be healed and the scars beginning to fade.

Each week following the initial procedure patients can experience an increase in mobility and daily activities if they are careful not to overexert themselves. Moderate exercise can be done around the third week, although it is crucial to stop anytime you notice any pain.

Week 4+

Beyond the fourth week following the procedure, any remaining bruising or swelling should subside. Day to day life will return to normal and activities can be completed with more ease. Final results will become more noticeable and accurately reflect the work done.

Even though the recovery and healing process may seem slow, it is important to remember that the results will take time to fully take shape. With patience and dedication to post-procedure instructions, the newer and slimmer you will be ready for your big debut in no time.
