Sagging skin and fat accumulation on the thighs can occur in anyone due to weight loss or aging. This excess tissue may cause discomfort and can lower your confidence in your appearance. Thigh lift surgery with Dr. Michael Jazayeri can remove unwanted loose skin and fat from your thighs to slim them down and help you feel more confident in your figure.
A thigh lift can be performed in a few different ways. Dr. Jazayeri will carefully consider your individual needs and your body before determining the best surgical approach.
A: Good candidates for thigh lift surgery have loose, sagging skin on their thighs between their hip bone and knees due to aging, genetics, or weight loss. They may also have excess thigh fat. Candidates may be either men or women in good general health. All prospective patients should have realistic expectations about the results that thigh lift surgery can achieve.
A: Thigh lift surgery may be performed with the patient under general or local anesthesia. While general anesthesia is more commonly used, Dr. Jazayeri may recommend local anesthesia depending on your case.
A: You will not need to stay overnight after your thigh lift. Thigh lift surgery is an outpatient procedure.
A: During recovery, patients may experience swelling, bruising, redness, and slight discomfort. Any discomfort will last only a few days and can be managed with oral medications. Compression garments may be provided to help with healing and circulation. During the first 10 to 14 days, you will have limited mobility. Still, during recovery it is important to walk and engage in light activities to maintain circulation. Patients may be able to return to work in approximately two weeks, though some may need more time. Swelling will improve over 3-4 weeks, at which point you may gradually reintroduce normal activities with Dr. Jazayeri’s approval.
A: Your results will become more noticeable as the swelling diminishes. It may take three to six months before you see your final results.
A: Patients who undergo thigh lift surgery will have some scarring. Scars may be more visible with an outer thigh lift than with an inner thigh lift. All scarring will likely fade over time, especially if you limit sun exposure and use scar-minimizing ointments and creams.
A: Your results can be long lasting if you maintain a stable body weight. Any weight fluctuations after your thigh lift surgery may alter their improved appearance.
